Ministry Update
We are approaching the cold, rainy winter of Cape Town, but we have much to celebrate in this season of ministry. At the end of March, we had the privilege of baptizing three people! Each of these were saved in the last year in our ministry here, and their stories are a powerful testimony to the grace and mercy of the Lord. One was saved from a mixed religious background including buddhism; one was saved from a violent past; and the third was our son Desmond who was convicted of his sin and asked Christ to forgive him and take control of his life. What a wonderful privilege to baptize these three, and a special privilege to baptize our own son. We praise the Lord for these salvations and their public proclamation of that salvation in baptism!

Blake's dad was able to come for a short visit just in time for the baptism service. It was very special to have him here to celebrate Desmond with us. We took a week off with him to go camping and to enjoy this beautiful country. We really had a great time, and are so thankful for when family is able to visit!

We had a great Easter service this year! The month of April held quite a few public holidays in South Africa, and that always means many people are out of town. During Easter, we had several of our families traveling, but we had a good number of visitors, and great connections were made. We are still reaching out to those who visited, so please pray that the Lord will provide more opportunity to share the gospel!

In May, we started a new Life Group Bible study on Tuesday nights. We are going through different books of the Bible together, starting in 1 Peter. The group has grown the last few weeks, and engagement in the discussions is also increasing. It has really been an encouragement to us to see people meeting outside of the normal church service times to study God's Word.

In May, we were able to serve at a local primary school over Mother's Day week. Over the last few years, we have purchased small gifts including hot chocolate, coffee, and sweets for the teachers and staff of this school. It is a great opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus and to encourage the staff. We are always given an opportunity to speak and share the reason why we give. We really enjoyed connecting again with the school, and we plan to serve again for Father's Day. Our church is also planning a number of ongoing projects there. This school has several hundred students from some of the poorest areas in Cape Town, and we hope that this will open up more evangelistic opportunities.

Many of you know that we have a number of missionary families preparing to join our team. One of these families, the Duenows, is applying for their visas in July with the hope to be able to move here in August/September. Please pray for the visa application and that the remainder of their support will come in! We are so excited to have them join us here full-time, but we know the process can be complicated. The Lord is in control!

We want to thank each of you for your continued prayer and support for our ministry! It is such a blessing to have so many around the world praying for us here in Cape Town. Thank you for your faithfulness! None of this would be possible without these partnerships.

Family Update
We are still waiting for Megan's corrected visa. The Home Affairs department that processes these visas has had a number of internal issues causing major problems with applications. We received a false letter stating that the correction couldn't be processed, but we were assured it would be done within a matter of weeks. It's been two months since then, and we are still waiting. Please pray for this.

Kynlee and Desmond are wrapping up the first half of the school year. We can't believe how quickly this year has gone! In April, the school had a "Celebration of Work Evening" where all of the students prepared art, songs, and presentations to showcase the work so far this year. We are so proud of both of them!

Three things to pray for...
  • Our lost friends and neighbors.
  • Our church family that they will continue to grow in the Lord and develop into leadership roles, and for our new team members who are preparing to join us.
  • Megan's visa correction application.
