“Refreshed Together”

“…so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed together with you.” – Romans 15:32

We often think of rest as something we pursue alone—a quiet moment, a break from the noise, a solitary escape. But Paul’s words in Romans 15:32 offer a different picture. He speaks of being “refreshed together”—a spiritual and relational renewal that comes not in isolation, but through meaningful connection with others.

The Greek word Paul uses literally means “to rest together.” It shows up in multiple places in the New Testament, always pointing to a shared experience of encouragement, joy, and strength. This verse is a reminder that true refreshment isn’t just physical—it’s deeply relational and spiritual.

We weren’t created to walk this life alone. God wired us to find strength, rest, and even healing in healthy relationships. When we surround ourselves with people who reflect Jesus, we find the kind of rest our souls truly long for.

Reflection Question:
Who are the people in your life that truly refresh your spirit—and how are you making space for those relationships?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the people You’ve placed in my life to walk this journey with. Help me to value and pursue the kind of relationships that bring true spiritual rest and encouragement. May I also be that kind of refreshment to others. Amen.
